How prepared are we to avoid risks and cybercrime?
Learn how to take care of yourself.
At ALFA, we are committed to the security of our collaborators, therefore, we make sure that our efforts can be applied inside and outside our facilities.
One of them is cybersecurity training, which is a set of actions that allow us to safeguard information in the digital world.
Learning how to protect yourself and your loved ones in this ever-connected society is now more important than ever.
Digital devices are part of the daily lives of millions of people, whether through a smartphone, a computer, as well as home appliances that allow internet connection.
Their usefulness is undeniable, however, being online, we all become an open channel through which cybercriminals can reach us.
Beyond scaring us, as users of digital devices, we must know the type of information that is sensitive, and the right way and time to share it with others.
Knowing how to reduce our online footprint allows us to minimize digital risks and cyberattacks.
What are the most common digital crimes?
The increased use of technological devices has led more and more people to fall prey to digital crime. Some of the most common Internet scams include:
Identity theft: appropriation of a person’s identity to obtain some kind of benefit, usually monetary.
It involves the unauthorized and illegal obtaining and use of personal data.
Phishing: online scam through the use of spam, fake websites, e-mail messages, instant messages, seeking to obtain confidential data from Internet users.
Lack of security of public networks: we all like to use the internet offered in public areas because it allows us to save our data, but with this type of network, cybercriminals can access our devices more quickly.
Protect all your devices at home, including your internet connection, computers, refrigerators, baby monitors, etc.
So how can I protect myself?
- Avoid using the same password for all your accounts and devices.
- Do not enter your personal or banking information on unofficial websites.
- Be careful when sharing personal information requested over the phone.
- Purchase an antivirus to protect your devices.
- Log out of all digital devices that are not yours.
And if you are a user of social networks:
- Disable the location of your devices whenever possible, so that no one can track your movements and see the places you frequently visit.
- Protect the privacy of the young ones at home and don’t share their photos.
You can never be sure who is on the other side of the screen. - Please note that the minimum age recommended for minors to have profiles on social networks is 13 years old.
By following these steps, your online footprint will be smaller and your security will be greater.
Now that’s peace of mind.
